Find Your Perfect Match
Welcome!

Finding the Perfect Dog Can Be Easy, But There’s Lots to Consider!

Finding the perfect dog for your lifestyle is about matching your activity level, home environment, and personal preferences with the right canine companion. Consider factors like energy level, size, and temperament to ensure a harmonious and fulfilling relationship with your new furry friend. Fill out our application and browse our dogs. Once you fill out the application, you will receive an email to set a phone appointment so that our adoption counselors can assist you in which of our dogs might be the best fit for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Does the Process Take?

Because the majority of our dogs are located in a prison, we rarely can accommodate same day adoptions (but it happens sometimes). But this a lifetime decision, so let’s take the time to help you find your perfect match. After filling out an application, we will have a phone call where we go over your needs and interests and decide together who might be the best matches for you. We then schedule a time for you to come meet them at our Ione Facility or at an adoption event, which we do most weekends.

How Much Does Adopting Cost?

Our adults are typically $400 and puppies are $450. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered and microchipped and up to date on vaccines. You can click on any of our dogs to confirm the price.

What Is the Difference Between Adopting and Fostering?

Fostering is a temporary commitment. Adoption is a lifetime commitment. We do not currently have fostering opportunities because our dogs live primarily in the prison setting, but we will be creating a short term foster program for dogs who have completed their training but have not yet been adopted so that we can get feedback on various things (like, I are they good with kids, cats, etc…) so that we can help them find their forever homes.

Will I need Additional Veterinarian Services?

You will need to continue with future veterinary care for your dog once you adopt them. You should establish a relationship with a vet once you bring your new dog home. However, you should only have the annual routine care needed for your dog.

Can I take A Pet Home Directly From a meet and greet/adoption event?

Yes, you can take a pet home directly from your meet and greet. If you have other dogs in the home, we encourage you to bring them to the meet and greet. We encourage you to complete our video based pre-adoption program prior to your meet and greet, but we do not require it.

CAn i foster a dog until i decide if i want to adopt?

Unfortunately, we do not typically have capacity to officially send dogs out as “fosters” outside of our normal volunteer fosters. That being said, if you adopt a dog, and decide that you are not a good fit within 30 days (think of this as a fostering period), then we will happily take the dog back and help fit you with a different dog when available. Because we are a non-profit, we cannot do refunds, however, we will make every effort to help you find the dog that will better fit you.
